Many modern vehicles have coil over plug ignition systems.
Part of the coil has an insulation boot and connector that sit in the spark plug well that attaches directly onto the spark plug connector. Sometimes a technician may require testing of the coil and coil insulation boot for current leakage. The TE010 allows the coil to be disconnected from the rocker cover and removed. The TE010 is then connected between the ignition coil boot and the spark plug.
The technician can then test for HV ignition leakage from the coil or coil insulation boot, which may produce an engine miss or hesitation. An inductive clamp can also be placed over the HV ignition lead extension to test the ignition system or connect a taco or ignition timing light.
